Oregon employers that are growing their teams may be eligible for a new state tax credit designed to support business expansion and job creation.

The Qualified Jobs Creation Tax Credit, established during the 2026 legislative session, provides eligible businesses with a $1,000 Oregon income tax credit for each net new qualifying job created, up to $10,000 per employer per year. Applications for the 2026 tax year are now open and must be submitted by October 31, 2026.

“We want Oregon to be a place where businesses can grow, invest and create good jobs,” said State Senator Anthony Broadman, chair of the Senate Committee on Finance and Revenue. “This tax credit is about rewarding employers who are doing exactly that. Central Oregon has some of the most innovative businesses in the state, and I want to make sure our local employers know this opportunity is available and take full advantage of it.”

The credit is targeted toward businesses operating in several industries important to Central Oregon’s economy, including advanced manufacturing, bioscience and biotechnology, clean technology, food and beverage processing, forestry and wood products, high technology, and outdoor gear and apparel.

To qualify, businesses must have created at least one net new Oregon job, operate primarily in an eligible industry, and pay employees in qualifying positions at least 150% of the applicable Oregon minimum wage. Employers must also receive certification from Business Oregon before claiming the credit.

Think your business may qualify? Business Oregon has eligibility information, application guidance and the online application available through its Qualified Jobs Creation Tax Credit program. Applications for the 2026 tax year close October 31.
