Portland-based band Son de Cuba returns to Central Oregon to get your feet dancing when they perform at Silver Moon Brewing September 28 from 4-7 pm. The event, Baile por la Comunidad or Dance for the Community, is a fundraiser for the Latino Community Association. Admission is free, but LCA will accept donations to support its programs.
Son de Cuba are musicians from the US and Cuba with roots in Latin, African, and jazz rhythms. The quintet has developed their own blend of classic and modern Latin songs and plays salsa, timba, son, merengue, bolero, cumbia, bachata, and Latin jazz.
Son de Cuba will perform on Silver Moon's outdoor stage where you can sip craft beers and order food from an array of food carts. Local musician and LCA friend Mark Quon helped organize the dance party to show support for Central Oregon’s Latine community. Dancing starts at 4 p.m. and DJ Andres 'Andy' Garcia from Latin Dance Bend will spin tunes from 6-7:30 p.m. Silver Moon Brewing is open for all ages and located at 24 NW Greenwood Ave, Bend, OR 97703.
