BendNEXT Foundation, the philanthropic arm of the Bend Chamber, has been awarded a City of Bend Climate Action Partner Grant to launch the Waste-Wise Events Initiative.
This initiative supports the City’s Climate Action goals by helping make zero waste the new standard for community events in Bend. Through this effort, BendNEXT will model sustainable practices at its own events and develop a Waste-Wise Event Planning Playbook — a digital resource designed to help other organizations plan and host environmentally responsible events.
The Waste-Wise Events Initiative will be developed in collaboration with local partners and experts already leading in sustainability, complementing and amplifying existing community efforts in waste reduction, food recovery, and climate action.
By embedding sustainability into the fabric of Bend’s public gatherings, this project aims to reduce waste, divert food to community use, and inspire a lasting culture of climate-conscious event planning across Bend.
