The High Desert Horticultural Center Invites you to the Second Annual Native Plant Garden Tour on June 20th in Bend. The garden tour was started to showcase the amazing landscapes that can be created using native plants, providing inspiration for both native plant enthusiasts and people new to gardening with natives.
This year's tour features nine private and four public gardens around Bend. The tour is self-guided, but homeowners and volunteers will greet visitors at each private garden and be available to answer questions about the plants, design and upkeep.
“Native plants play a crucial role in our urban environment– providing habitat and food sources for native animals and pollinators, as well as conserving key resources such as water,” says Rachael Relph, the Community Engagement Manager with High Desert Horticultural Center. “Native plants are already adapted to the poor soils and extreme weather conditions in Central Oregon and can be used to create landscapes that are water-wise and fire-wise without compromising on beauty.”
Attendees can purchase tickets for $15 online through Event Bright and pick up their tour booklet at Winter Creek Nursery.
