This Week's Highlights

Hot off the Press: Business Journal lowers Advertising Pricing

Hot News!! The staff at the Chamber is trying to find every way possible to increase the value of our products and services to you, our members. We have done this in a BIG way with a major pricing restructure of the Business Journal, our monthly newspaper.
We recognize the importance for you to continue to advertise your business and we also are aware of the tightened budgets out there. With both of these facts in mind, we took our existing prices and tore them apart. We have also done some restructuring of the paper itself. Instead of 5 columns it will now be a 4 column publication and it will all be full color! No more pricing add-ons to have your ad in color.
The last big change we are making is the back page will now be a calendar that can be torn off and hung on your bulletin board as a reminder of all the different events we hold every month. All these things will be seen for the first time in the upcoming April edition. If you would like to be part of this exciting launch, call Ann Gates today at 382-3221 and she'll discuss your options.

Wells Fargo featured in FORTUNE

Wells Fargo recently ranked 14th in FORTUNE magazine's 2009 list of the "World's Most Admired Companies." It is also the survey's highest-ranking financial services company.
FORTUNE asked over 10,000 executives, directors, and securities analysts to vote for the globally recognized companies from any industry they most admired. Over 360 companies were rated with nine criteria including innovation, use of corporate assets, social responsibility, long-term investment, and global competitiveness.
"This is the highest ranking our company has ever achieved in this prestigious survey and also the first time Wells Fargo has been the highest ranked financial services company," said John Stumpf, Wells Fargo's President and CEO. "This achievement is a tribute to the hard work and customer focus of all 281,000 of our team members. It's all the more significant and gratifying because we earned it in the midst of the Wells Fargo-Wachovia merger integration and during the sharpest, most volatile, painful, economic downturn our country and our industry has experienced in more than a quarter century. Now, more than ever, we recommit to our Vision and Values, to what has made us one of the world's strongest financial services companies."
In February, Wells Fargo was also recognized by Barron's as one of the world's 25 most respected companies.

Family Access Network to receive federal funds

The Family Access Network (FAN) will receive federal funds from a domestic programs bill that President Barack Obama signed earlier this week. The Omnibus Appropriations Act of 2009 is a $410 billion bill that would bring close to $250 million to Oregon for various projects.
Oregon Senators Ron Wyden and Jeff Merkley recently announced the act would go toward several projects throughout Oregon including $232,000 to help boost the growth of Central Oregon's technology industry, and $238,000 for FAN to continue to help families acquire basic needs and to improve the physical and mental health of disadvantaged children
"Every Oregonian deserves the ability to keep their children safe and healthy and themselves gainfully employed," Wyden said. "The projects included in this bill will improve public safety and make sure rural Oregonians have access to the same level of medical care as their urban counterparts."
"These innovative projects strengthen our local economies and meet critical community needs," Merkley said.

Rachel Scdoris Iditarod Update

Local Central Oregon hero Rachael Scdoris is currently in 54th place in the 2009 Iditarod. Scdoris is doing very well and went through a very strong blizzard this week. She continues to be strong while on the route to the finish line in Nome, Alaska.
Scdoris has teamed up once again with Central Oregon Resources for Independent Living (CORIL) to raise money for people with disabilities in our community to help them realize their goals and dreams, as she is doing.
You can get involved for as little as a penny a mile donation ($11.00) for her 1,100 mile quest through the Alaskan wilderness. If you would like to make a donation go to www.gorachaelgo.com and participate today!
